I am simply someone reading the Bible for the first time and trying to understand what I’m seeing on the page.

My Background

I grew up attending church occasionally with my grandparents. While my parents believed in God, faith wasn’t a conversation we had at home. When my wife and I started our family, we were very young, and while we stepped into a church “here and there” over the years, we never truly opened the Book for ourselves.

The Turning Point

About four months ago, that changed. We decided to return to church and actually learn. I started where most people do: searching. I bought an ESV (English Standard Version) because it’s a standard in many churches, and an NLT (New Living Translation) because I heard it was easier for beginners.

But I found myself stuck in “research mode”—overwhelmed by too many suggestions on where to start, so I just kept searching instead of reading.

The Plan

My wife and I finally decided to stop searching and start diving in. We chose a Chronological Reading Plan and a “Bible in a Year” devotional approach. Every day, we listen, we read, and we try to piece it together.

Why This Blog Exists

The purpose of this space is simple:

To explore scripture as a beginner.

To share what I’m learning (and what confuses me—which is a lot).

To invite you to share your own thoughts and questions.

The Philosophy

To me, faith is a journey. I believe it is okay not to have all the answers. In fact, we are finding that asking the hard questions and searching for the answers is the most important part of the process.

I hope this blog becomes a place where we can think, ask, and grow together. Thank you for joining me on this journey.
–FaithinPursuit

Who Am I? I am not a Bible scholar, a theologian, or a teacher.
